About MINIBee

In 2006 I was shopping for a convertible with the intent of adding a little fun to my long commute. After trying several brands, I settled on a Liquid Yellow MINI Cooper Convertible and my life was changed forever. The day I brought my MINI home, my daughter, then 8 years old, said it looked like a Bee. We named the MINI “MINIBee,” and after joining Sunshine MINIs and using the same name for my online account, I became known as MINIBee too. Eventually I found myself with not only a cool car, but a hobby, a lifestyle, a community and many, many great friends.

In MINIBee I motored all over the place from 2006 to 2013 and to many MINI events large and small, including MINIs on the Dragon (six times), MINIs Slay the Sleeping Dragon, MINI Takes the States and Mickey and MINI. MINIBee and I completed 150 Dragon runs and logged more than 150,000 miles together. After all that motoring, MINIBee (the MINI) had earned her rest, so she was moved to a private retirement facility where I visit her and take her out to play once a month. She now has more than 160,000 miles on her and still can motor with the best of them.

In the middle of all the MINIdom, I was nearing the end of a career as a journalist that had spanned more than 30 years. After being suddenly downsized by my newspaper, I was looking for an opportunity to reinvent myself. I weighed several options and finally followed my heart to a new career as a MINI Motoring Advisor, where I could facilitate the adoption of MINIs for families who were waiting to experience the joy a MINI can bring. After a short and very successful stint at another MINI dealership, I moved to Ferman MINI of Tampa Bay in November 0f 2013, a place where I had been a customer for many years. Because so many people here already knew me, it immediately felt like I was home.

That turned out to be a great decision, and after nearly three years and hundreds of adoptions later, I continue to bring my enthusiasm and love for the little cars that changed my life to all our guests and strive to never be a “car salesman” but instead, to be a MINI enthusiast who just happens to sell MINIs. My genuine excitement and love for the MINIs may seem a little kooky to some people who come in to just buy a “car,” and that’s fine with me. Whether you come in looking for a car that gets great gas mileage or one with fantastic safety ratings, or just because the MINIs look so damn cool, you’ll get the same enthusiastic and exemplary customer service from me (take a look at the “Special Delivery” video above to see what I mean), and if you’re not careful, you may take a big sip of the MINI Kool Aid and become an enthusiast too. 🙂

Just remember…live is too short to drive boring cars.
